Biography

SORG (translated as "Grief"), founded during 1995 in the Stockholm suburb of Sigtuna, was initially assembled by guitarists Victor Hemgren and Rickard Dahlin. With the former, also a member of Black Metal band MÅNEGARM, assuming the lead vocal role the pair pulled in drummer Petter 'Karl' Rosqvist and bassist Lars Göran, the latter soon replaced by Olle Bodin from Doom outfit OUT OF HAND. This variant of SORG cut the 1996 demo 'Mina Drömmars Dal' and its 1997 follow up 'Devastated Light'. In March 1998 Rosqvist bowed out, relocating to the USA to study, and Bodin opted to exit in order to prioritise OUT OF HAND. Nevertheless a third, untitled, demo arrived in 1998 with Hemgren taking on bass responsibilities and AD INFINITUM's Micke Nyholm donating his services as stand in drummer. Eventually Rosqvist would resurface behind the drum kit of American Power Metal band STEEL PROPHET.

SORG entered into a period of stasis as Hemgren journeyed to the USA. Eventually the band was re-formulated in 1999 with Hemgren having returned to Sweden and drawing in the SOILS OF FATE rhythm section of bassist Henrik Kolbjer and drummer Nicke Karlsson. However, Karlsson's tenure lasted a matter of weeks and soon Micke Nyholm was re-installed. Karlsson teamed up with PANDEMONIC. Meantime, SORG came to a halt sometime in 2000.

Having moved to Ȫrebro, Hemgren was soon back in action with a brand new band entitled BRAIN DAMAGE. 2002 demos reportedly had Nu-Metal leanings. Rickard went on to MAZE OF TORMENT. Viktor Hemgren joined MAZE OF TORMENT for a short period before leaving, due to musical differences, to form Rock n' Roll / Punk Rock band LUCIEN. Rosqvist joined DANZIG in 2007.
