Biography

Södertälje Gothic Metal outfit. ETERNAL OATH guitarist Peter Nagy also has credits with HYPOCRITE, WYVERN and MÖRK GRYNING. The band came together during 1991 citing an inaugural line-up comprising vocalist Joni Mäensivu, guitarist Petri Tarvainen bass player Ted Lundström and drummer Ted Jonsson. A later addition saw the ranks swelled with the introduction of second guitarist Daniel Dziuba. This formation cut an opening three track demo in the December 1992. However, shortly after Lundström took leave to join up with AMON AMARTH and a replacement on bass was found in Martin Wiklander. Because of this line-up shuffle the demo remained consigned to the vaults.

A full year later the band set about recording a second demo, a five track session entitled 'Art Of Darkness'. This new material demonstrated ETERNAL OATH's drift away from the basic Death Metal approach. Peter Nagy took Dziuba's position that same year. In February of 1994 a further demo was laid down, prompting the interest of Rat Pack Records and resulting in recording of songs for the mini-album 'So Silent'. The album never emerged on Rat Pack though, ETERNAL OATH severing ties with the label and industriously releasing the record under their own steam in June of 1996.

Wiklander lost interest and decamped and ETERNAL OATH pulled in Peter Wendin as substitute for the debut full length album 'Through The Eyes Of Hatred', issued in May 1999 by the Singapore based Pulverized label. The August 2002 ETERNAL OATH outing 'Righteous', released by the Greater Arts label, would include a cover version of PARADISE LOST's 'Eternal'.

The band donated their rendition of 'The Fevered Circle' to the AT THE GATES tribute album, 'Slaughterous Souls - A Tribute to At The Gates' released in September 2004 through Drowned Scream Records.

In June 2006 ETERNAL OATH parted ways with original singer Joni Mäensivu, bringing in Timo Hovinen of SLOW GROWING NUMB and GAME OVER as replacement. However, in January 2007 announced their decision to disband.
