Biography

CLONE came together in Åsbro during 1998, the product of bassist Mikael Nilsson and JONNY WONG guitarist Henrik Tranemyr's desire to create a new Metal band. Before long the founding duo was joined by singer Jonny Westerback and second guitarist Tonka. JONNY WONG Tobhias Ljung stood in for the initial sessions. By November of 1999 Jimmy Johansson had assumed the lead vocal mantle. CLONE did not enjoy much luck during 2000, recording a demo, which the band judged unfit to release, and recording a version of 'Welcome To Dying' for a BLIND GUARDIAN tribute album. This latter session was also deemed not up to par and the group unsurprisingly parted ways with Johansson as Westerback and Ljung took over the vocal duties.

The band pulled in singer Mikael Reini and a second stab at cutting a demo gave more favourable results. During June of that year the band learned of the death of their original singer Jimmy Johansson, the former frontman dying peacefully in his sleep in Spain. CLONE, despite dispensing with Reini, issued the November 2002 demo 'Inverted Icons', produced by DIONYSUS drummer Ronny Milianowicz.

The band subsequently switched title to THE BEREAVED, issuing the album 'Darkened Silhouette' in 2004 through Greek label Black Lotus Records.
