Thrash edged Death Metal convened during 1997, SERPENT OBSCENE released their inaugural demo 'Behold The Beginning' that same year. Vocalist Erik Tormentor is an ex-MARBLE ICON member. SERPENT OBSCENE guitarists Nicklas Eriksson and Johan Thorngren are former members of A MIND CONFUSED. The pair would create a side act KAAMOS in mid 1998. Although Eriksson still operates with KAAMOS Thorngren left their ranks in 1999.

SERPENT OBSCENE's 1999 'Massacre' demo secured an album deal with the Necropolis label. Following issue of the debut album Jonas Eriksson exited in March of 2001. He would be superseded by KAAMOS man Christofer Barkensjö as the band undertook gigs in Germany.
