    Biography

Solo endeavours from GREAT KING RAT and JEKYLL & HYDE guitarist PONTUS NORGREN. The Swedish guitar whizz had, early on in his career, reportedly very nearly joined Metal legends ACCEPT, at first being offered the position before the German band discovered Norgren was still a teenager. As it transpired Norgren's first proper band was ODESSA which evolved into SIN CITY then finally the renowned GREAT KING RAT.

Norgren would join the Monica Larsson led MONICA MAZE BAND after GREAT KING RAT's one off classic record. This act, which also saw LION'S SHARE man Pontus Egberg in the ranks, performed their final gig in Stockholm during 1994. However, the guitarist would not be left out in the cold as a side project DAMAGE DONE, in union with vocalist Patrik Isaksson and former EUROPE member John Levén, was awaiting. DAMAGE DONE would be put on the back burner though as Norgren was recruited into the ranks of JEKYLL & HYDE.

Norgren would post JEKYLL & HYDE re-activate DAMAGE DONE as a solo venture pulling in erstwhile YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, TREAT and SWEDISH EROTICA singer Mats Leven, his GREAT KING RAT colleague Thomas Broman on drums and bassist Chris Goldsmith. Keyboards came courtesy of Jesse Nylander whilst former CANDLEMASS vocalist Thomas Vikström lent his lungs on backing vocals.

Norgren would also be found as a session guest on the debut album from Melodic Rock act SEVEN WISHES.

By 2001 Norgren and Broman joined forces with the TALISMAN duo of vocalist JEFF SCOTT SOTO and bassist Marcel Jacob to found HUMANIMAL. By mid 2003 it was learned Norgren was forging a fresh band unit ZAN CLAN in collaboration with erstwhile EASY ACTION and SHOTGUN MESSIAH frontman Zinny J. Zan and the former LION'S SHARE rhythm section of bassist Pontus Egberg and drummer Johan Koleberg. A further collaboration that year found Norgren working with his erstwhile JEKYLL & HYDE bandmates Jake Samuel and Marcus Yiddel on the Tolkein inspired conceptual trio THE RING.

Another sudio project arrived in 2003, DREAMS FALL being assembled to record a demo billed 'Freedom's Calling'. This group involved a quite illustrious cast, comprising singer Andy Engberg, of LION'S SHARE, SECTION A, SORCERER, BOOK OF REFLECTIONS and TWILIGHT, bass player Chris Goldsmith, of GLORY, DAMAGE DONE and FULL STRIKE, keyboard player Tobias Marberger and SEVENTH ONE drummer Mats Karlsson. During 2004 the guitarist guested on the debut DIVINEFIRE project album 'Glory Thy Name'.

Norgren achieved national acclaim in in February 2006 when it was revealed he was a member of spoof Rock band THE POODLES. The band won one of the four qualifying rounds in Sweden's competition to find an entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest with their '80s styled track 'Night Of Passion'. THE POODLES in fact comprised a cast of seasoned veterans and, alongside Norgren, involved vocalist Jakob Samuel, of THE RING, TALISMAN and JEKYLL & HYDE, bassist Pontus Egberg of LION'S SHARE repute and drummer Christian Lundqvist.
