Biography

UNICORN show a different side to EDGE OF SANITY frontman DAN SWANÖ, the man going all Progressive. Hailing from Örebro, Swanö's influence on the Swedish music scene, besides his production work, includes involvement in other acts as diverse as PAN.THY.MONIUM, GODSEND, WOUNDED KNEE and NIGHTINGALE among others. UNICORN also involved guitarist / cellist Anders Måreby with Peter Edwinson of ATTENTION on keyboards. The demo 'A Collection Of Worlds' was recorded during 1988 with 'A Collection Of Worlds II' following in 1989, 'The Weirdest Of Tales' in 1991 and 'After Before' in 1992. French label Mellow Records took the band on for the 1993 album 'Ever Since'. For a 1995 album, entitled 'Emotional Wasteland', bass tracks were supplied by Tom Nouga (in actualty Dan's brother). That same year UNICORN contributed the GENESIS cover version 'Afterglow' on a Mellow compilation album 'The River Of Constant Change'.

Extending his portfolio even further, Swanö and Edwinson, working with drummer Peter Damin, activated "Post-Prog" project SECOND SKY in 2004 for the album 'Skydiving'. Dan Swanö contributed guest lead vocal tracks to a cover version of MOXY's 'Out Of The Darkness' for inclusion on OVERDRIVE and LOCOMOTIVE BREATH guitarist Janne Stark's November 2006 MOUNTAIN OF POWER tribute collection.
