Biography

THE PROJECT HATE is a Swedish Electro-Gothic Death Metal unit founded in 1998 by erstwhile GRAVE and ENTOMBED vocalist Jörgen Sandström in league with former LEUKEMIA, ROSICRUCIAN, ODYSSEY, LAME and HOUSE OF USHER guitarist Kenth Philipson (a.k.a. 'Lord K'). Lord K had initially assembled a project entitled DEADMARCH upon his relocation to Ȫrebro, this venture upon the incorporation of Sandström, subsequently evolving into THE PROJECT HATE. The duo demoed up material the following year with Dan Swanö of EDGE OF SANITY acting as producer and ENTOMBED's L-G Petrov contributing backing vocals.

These sessions secured a deal with the German Massacre label and, adding singer Mia Ståhl, culminated in the release of 'Cybersonic Superchrist' in February of 2000. The August 2001 sophomore release 'When We Are Done...Your Flesh Will Be Ours' was produced by Mieszko Talarczyk of NASUM. The group bolstered their sound with the addition of 2 TON PREDATOR guitarist Petter Freed and PAIN OF SALVATION bass player and FROZEN EYES guitarist Magnus Johansson in 2000. A live album, 'Killing Hellsinki', arrived later that same year, this release incorporating the 1999 demos.

THE PROJECT HATE parted ways with singer Mia Ståhl during October. Signing to the Dutch Mascot label the band entered the studio to record a new album billed as 'The Project Hate - Deadmarch, The Initiation of Blasphemy'. Female singer Jo Enckell, previously with BOUND, was incorporated into the band during January of 2003. By April the album title had been changed to 'Hate, Dominate, Congregate, Eliminate' with its release now given over to Threeman Recordings, the label owned by ENTOMBED. DARK FUNERAL's Emperor Magus Caligula contributed backing vocals.

In October of 2003 it would be learned that THE PROJECT HATE duo of Lord K and Jörgen Sandström had united with SANCTIFICATION bassist Tomas Elofsson and VOMITORY drummer Tobias Gustafsson to found an "old school" Death Metal band entitled GOD AMONG INSECTS. In early 2004 Sandström also enrolled himself into VICIOUS ART, a Death / Thrash act forged by former DARK FUNERAL and DOMINION CALIGULA members Mattias 'Dominion' Mäkelä and Robert 'Gaahnfaust' Lundin. Another record he featured on would be a 2004 album from THE MIGHTY NIMBUS, featuring on a cover of the SAINT VITUS track 'Born Too Late'.

THE PROJECT HATE scheduled to record once again at Soundlab Studios in February 2005 with Mieszko Talarczyk of NASUM and GENOCIDE SUPERSTARS acting as producer. Due to Talarczyk's tragic loss in the Indian Ocean tsunsami disaster the band switched to utilising DAN SWANÖ, recording at his studio in Ȫrebro. Session bass work on the album, dubbed 'Armageddon March Eternal (Symphonies Of Slit Wrists)', came supplied by Michael Håkansson of EVERGREY. The track 'At The Entrance to Hell's Unholy Fire' featured backing vocals by "The Troops of Devastation", an assemblage of scene notables comprising Gustaf Jorde of DEFLESHED, Jonas Granvik of WITHOUT GRIEF and DEAD END WORLD, Morten Hansen of ACQ, Linus Ekström of INTO DESOLATION and PANDEMONIC, Anders Eriksson of HYDRA, Tobbe Sillman of GUIDANCE OF SIN, Jocke Widfeldt and Matti Mäkelä of VICIOUS ART, Insulter of Jesus Christ! From DAMNATION, Jonas Torndal of GRAVE, Anders Schultz from UNLEASHED and Björn Åkesson of CELTIC FROSTFLAKES.

In November Kenth Philipson joined the touring ranks of VOMITORY as fill-in guitarist for the recently departed Ulf Dalegren for gigs UK, Ireland, The Netherlands and Sweden.

Jörgen Sandström announced the formation of a deliberately retro-Death Metal band project entitled DEATH BREATH in collaboration with his erstwhile ENTOMBED colleague and THE HELLACOPTERS frontman Nicke Andersson with THUNDER EXPRESS man Robert Persson on guitar.

THE PROJECT HATE commenced work on fresh album recordings in October 2006. Michael Håkansson joined ALL ENDS in April 2007.
