Örebro's old school Thrash / Death act RUIN was founded during November 2004 by INSIDIOUS personnel guitarists Anders Bertilsson and Daniel Schröder with drummer Emil Andersson and vocalist / bassist Einar Magnusson handling lead vocals and bass guitar. With the demise of INSIDIOUS in December 2004, RUIN became priority. Line-up changes saw Andersson's position on drums taken by Andreas Gustavsson.

By 2005 three RUIN members would be operational with CHAIN OF HATE, Einar Magnusson, as 'E.V.M. Jawbreaker', Andreas Gustavsson (credited as Andy Guz subsequently Cody Cruz) and Anders Bertilsson (under the name Shotgun Shaggy).

In December 2005 the group incorporated drummer Tobhias Ljung of THE BEREAVED. This formation crafted a three-song promotional session simply billed 'Demo 2005'.

Bertilsson forged COLDWORKER in 2006, an alliance with NECRONY and NASUM drummer Anders Jakobson, RELENTLESS bass player Oskar Pålsson plus André Alvinzi of CARNAL GRIEF as second guitarist in March with ex-PHOBOS man Joel Fornbrant. In January 2007 Daniel Schröder joined the ranks of COLDWORKER.
