Biography

Yet another in the multide of side projects of EDGE OF SANITY's Dan Swanö NIGHTINGALE is his Doom, Progressive venture. Hailing from Örebro, Swanö's influence on the Swedish music scene, besides his production work, includes involvement in other acts as diverse as PAN.THY.MONIUM and WOUNDED KNEE among others. The man played all the instruments bar bass on the debut 'The Breathing Shadow' as well as producing the affair. Overall NIGHTINGALE's sound is a heady mixture of 80's New Wave with epic Rock and Gothic vibes.

The subsequent 'The Closing Chronicles' album was co-produced by Tom Nouga (a.k.a. Dan's brother Dag Swanö) who led Dan through his self created musical jungle. The second outing turned out to be a bleak even melancholic affar. There's a surprise. Both Dan Swanö and bassist bassist Erik Oskarsson would feature as session players with GODSEND. Extending his portfolio even further, Swanö activated "Post-Prog" project SECOND SKY in 2004 for the album 'Skydiving'.

NIGHTINGALE set 'White Darkness' as the title of a 2006 album, commencing work on this effort in June. Dan Swanö contributed guest lead vocal tracks to a cover version of MOXY's 'Out Of The Darkness' for inclusion on OVERDRIVE and LOCOMOTIVE BREATH guitarist Janne Stark's November 2006 MOUNTAIN OF POWER tribute collection. 'White Darkness' was released in June 2007 via Black Mark.

NIGHTINGALE played a free show on 12th June 2009 at Startskottet in Finspång, Sweden alongside DAWN OF SILENCE.
