PETE SANDBERG holds quite a reputation as erstwhile frontman for ALIEN and as a solo artist in his own right. The singer joined MIDNIGHT SUN shortly after recording his 1997 solo album 'Back In Business'. Prior to this recruitment the band, established during 1996, had gone by a formative title of TRANQUILITY. Bassist Jonas Reingold had previously made his mark with Hard Rock outfit THE DOWNTOWN CLOWNS, having issued a 1994 album.

The debut MIDNIGHT SUN album, 'Another World' recorded at Roasting House Studio and released by Massive Music in July 1997, includes extra, untitled tracks following the listed closer 'Name Of Love'. Alpha Brunette issued the album in Japan whilst Point Music distributed in Germany.

Former TRASH drummer Hempo Hilden joined the band for the sophomore July 1998 album 'Above & Beyond' was released via Avalon Marquee in Japan. September 1999's 'Nemesis', produced by Jonas Reingold and Anders Theander, had THE FLOWER KINGS and BAD HABIT man Jaime Salazar on the drum stool and guitarist Chris Palm out in favour of LAST TRIBE man Magnus Karlsson. Ex-EUROPE guitarist JOHN NORUM guests on both 'Above & Beyond' and 'Nemesis'.

Sandberg, Reingold, Hillden, Palm and Salazar all appear on the 1999 REINGOLD album 'Universe' along with former GLORY and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN vocalist Goran Edman. Ex-members of MIDNIGHT SUN would forge an alliance with MAJESTIC personnel to found REPTILIAN releasing the 'Castle Of Yesterday' album in 2001.

Meantime, Karlsson's LAST TRIBE album 'The Ritual', put on hold when he had joined MIDNIGHT SUN, was finally issued in 2001 by Frontiers Records. MIDNIGHT SUN's own 'Metal Machine'would follow in September. Not content to put his efforts solely into MIDNIGHT SUN Sandberg also operates another Melodic Rock act entitled JADE.

MIDNIGHT SUN's 2001 'Metal Machine' album arrived in September. The band's line-up for this outing comprised of vocalist Jakob Samuel, guitarist Magnus Karlsson, basist Jonas Reingold and drummer Jaime Salzaar with MAJESTIC's Richard Andersson on keyboards.

As 2005 broke Magnus Karlsson announced the formation of a new band unit, STARBREAKER's very heavy musical direction being illustrated by its choice of title taken after the classic JUDAS PRIEST song. The guitarist's comrades in arms for this venture would be TNT, WESTWORLD and MORNING WOOD vocalist Tony Harnell, Italian bassist Fabrizio Grossi and the ARK, ARTENSION, RIOT and TNT credited John Macaluso on drums. Karlsson would also gain further kudos by composing material and performing guitar for the 2005 RUSSELL ALLEN / JORN LANDE album 'The Battle'.

Working with vocalist / keyboard player Mike Andersson of CLOUDSCAPE, Magnus Karlsson initiated an all star project dubbed PLANET ALLIANCE for a 2006 album.
