Biography

Self Styled 'Evil' Gothic Metal band created in Malmö by former FLEGMA members vocalist Kalle Metz and bassist Richard Lion along with ex-FUNHOUSE guitarist Fredrik Täck and drummer Joel during 1996. The opening release 'XIII” saw FUNHOUSE guitarist Martin as session player but Lukas Sunesson took the role on a more permanent basis shortly after. TENEBRE rounded off the year contributing two tracks 'Halloween II' and 'Vampira' to a MISFITS tribute album.

TENEBRE's second record 'Grim Ride' only saw a limited European release. 1999 saw the departure of Joel and the recruitment of ex-EMBRACED man Andreas Albin on the drum stool. This revised version of the band crafted the 7" single 'Tombola Voodoo Master' and also launched side project SAINTS IN HELL, releasing 'Forever False'.

TENEBRE's 2000 album, the deliberately mis-spelled 'Mark Ov The Beast', includes a guest performance from Steve Sylvester from cult Italian band DEATH SS. However, another change saw Sunesson exiting (the band claimed he was 'fat'!) with Franco Bollo (a.k.a. Jan Gajdos of FUNHOUSE) assuming the role. 'Mark Ov The Beast' scored the band favourable reviews internationally.

The 2003 outing 'Electric Hellfire Kiss', recorded at Cherryfield Studios and employing a darker Gothic sound, debuted a new lead singer, Victor Fradera, previously with DAWN OF OBLIVION. Previous member changes in 2001 had seen the induction of Fradera and ex-EMBRACED man Peter MÃ¥rdklint replacing Bollo. Still in flux, TENEBRE swapped Täck for another FUNHOUSE veteran, Michael Körner in 2003

The band parted ways with Fradera in March of 2004, apparently due the frontman's new found devotion to Christianity. That September guitarist Peter MÃ¥rdklint opted out too, a statement from the band observing he had relocated to Australia "for studies of feces". Restructuring, bassist Richard Lion switched to guitar whilst Jenny from Malmö Black Metal band VIRGIN SIN took on bass duties.

A 2005 offering, 'Heart's Blood', once again cut at Cherryfield Studios, found the band totally shedding its Metal roots and delving deep into 80s styled Gothic Rock.
