Malmö based MISTELTEIN, named after the mythological arrow which slayed the Norse life god Balder, are a classic corpse painted Black Metal act that include drummer Nirag of EMBRACED. The group, which includes female keyboard player Hel, first emerged with the 1989 demo 'Spawn Of The Phantom Moon Wars'.

MISTELTEIN had been originally conceived during 1996, assembled by the quartet of vocalist Seron ('Deflowered Angelcries'), guitar player Nagrinn ('Lead Abominatio & Acoustic Abysstunes'), bassist Karagat ('Necropulse') and original drummer Alex. Before long, Alex was usurped by Nirag ('Torturehythm & Chords Of Condamnation') and second guitarist Baalzephon ('Rhythm Sodomy & Infested Lungs'). Keyboard player Hel ('Orchestral Demonsummoning') completed the line up.

Following recording of the 2000 debut album 'Rape In Rapture' guitarist Baalzephon bailed out with Mishrach plugging the gap. MISTELTEIN's second outing, the October 2001 'Divine...Desecrate...Complete' would see guest guitar contributions from Johan Axelsson of DERANGED.

The band members would be credited as Seron 'Invocation', Nagrinn 'Malevolent Distorted Bloodfeud', Mishrack 'Incineration & Processed Angelcries', Hel 'Hymns Forlorn', Karagat 'Unlimited Ways Of Damnation Through Deceptive Salvation' and Nirag 'Pounder Of Flesh & Dystopian Disharmonies'. Subsequently Ahldrathan (a.k.a. Varg Strand) of CENOTAPHIA, SWORN and ISHTAR enrolled on guitar as substitute for Mishrack.

In February of 2004 MISTELTEIN announced they had pulled in session men Kristian Forsell of CULT OF DECEMBER on vocals and bass player Calle Fält of SKULLFUCK and DERANGED for a Malmö gig supporting SOILWORK and THE FORSAKEN. However, the band retracted the statement in regard to Forsell, revealing theu had in fact enlisted OBSCURE DIVINITY's Skorrgh (a.k.a. Ville Kemi) as their new frontman for this show. The band then entered Mystical Arts Studios in Malmö for a new studio album, utilising guitarist Nagrinn to cover on bass. Kemi would be officially announced as the band's permanent singer in March of 2004.

Fäldt would reunite with his SKULLFUCK colleague John Huldt in the 2004 technical Thrash combo FEARED CREATION, this band also including the MASSGRAV, OMINOUS and THE FORSAKEN credited frontman Anders Sjöholm along with MISTELTEIN bassist Magnus Gillberg.

The group set about recording a new album for Regain Records, 'Nex Iehovae', at Mystical Arts Studios in mid 2005. Early 2006 witnessed line-up changes, with both Nagrinn and Hel opting out. DYNAMIC's John Huldt was taken on as guitar replacement whilst the keyboard role was delegated to Farnargh. Newly drawn into the ranks on bass guitar would be Skorrgh (a.k.a. Ville Kemi from OBSCURE DIVINITY)
