Biography

One of Sweden's more noted Hard Rock acts, MADISON was borne from the ashes of a band titled REGENT that had won a talent contest for which first prize was the recording of a single. REGENT subsequently recorded the 'Lay Down Your Arms' / 'Changes' 45, signed to Rixi Records and then splintered.

Bassist Conny Sundqvist and guitarist Dan Stomberg joined forces with DESTINY, another local act, before forming MADISON. The pair added the esteemed vocalist Göran Edman at this point. MADISON re-recorded both tracks from the REGENT single for their debut album, although guitarist Stomberg was superseded by Michael Myllinen shortly after the album's release.

Göran Edman departed following the second album 'Best In Show'. The singer worked up demos with erstwhile KISS guitarist VINNIE VINCENT for his VINNIE VINCENT INVASION project, contributed tracks to ex-EUROPE guitarist JOHN NORUM's 1987 'Out Of Control' opus and later teamed up with guitar maestro YNGWIE MALMSTEEN's band. The band soon found a new frontman in ex-SNAKE CHARMER and ALIEN vocalist Pete Sandberg, but MADISON split, leaving Sandberg's only legacy as the single 'Don't Close Your Eyes', issued only as a test pressing.

After the MADISON split Sundqvist (a.k.a. 'Conny Payne') joined RIFF RAFF, which evolved into BIG EASY, then joined ALIEN. Myllynen adopted the pseudonym of Michael Moon and joined KING DIAMOND for a short period. Former singer Göran Edman resurfaced fronting KHARMA in 2000 and, the following year, CROSSFADE. He would head up another new band in 2005, XSAVIOR for the 'Caleidoscope' album.

Early 2005 saw the unveiling of MINDSPLIT, a Progressive Metal alliance between Conny Payne, SCUDERIO frontman H.B. Anderson and guitarist Mathias Holm. The trio announced plans for an album billed 'Civil Art Of Time'. A further Göran Edman fronted venture was unveiled in spring 2006, GEFF being the Hard Rock construct involving guitarist Ralf Jedestedt, Also pitching in would be a rhythm section of former SILVER MOUNTAIN and SNAKE CHARMER bass player Pär Stadin and drummer Anders Johansson of HAMMERFALL and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN repute.
