Biography

Linköping Black Metal that features members of FUNERAL MIST and MARDUK. The band was created in 1995 by frontman Marcus Tena, known for his activirties on the scene as owner of Shadow Records, together with members of the band BLASPHEMOUS including guitarist Linus Köhl and drummer Martin "Axe" Axenrot. A demo, 'The Triumph Of Satan', was cut in May 1996 prior to Tena completely overhauling the band. Subsequently Axenrot made a keen impression on the Swedish extreme Metal scene racking up credits with SATANIC SLAUGHTER, MORGUE, NIFELHEIM, WITCHERY, N.C.O. and as 'Demon Pounding Devestator' in NIFELHEIM.

The version of TRIUMPHATOR that figured on the single 'The Ultimate Sacrifice' comprised of Tena, FUNERAL MIST guitarist Arioch and MARDUK, MOMENT MANIACS and ALLEGIANCE drummer Fredrik Andersson. Released in January 1999 on 7" by Mark Of The Devil Records, 'The Ultimate Sacrifice' limited to 500 copies. A subsequent CD digipack edition was put out via Holycaust Records in June.

The 'Wings Of Antichrist' album, released by Necropolis Records in October 1999, would be produced by Peter Tägtgren of HYPOCRISY at the world famous Abyss Studios. Merciless Records subsequently issued a vinyl version. For live work Tena enlisted TRIUMPHATOR and MALIGN's Mörk (a.k.a. Jonas Lindskog), SVARTSYN's Ornias and the WAR, DARK FUNERAL, SIGRBLOT and SVARTSYN credited drummer Draugen.

Grim Rune Productions re-issued 'The Ultimate Sacrifice' sessions, adding an extra track 'From Under To Below' as a limited edition of just 100 12" vinyl release in 2002.

Arioch, rebilled as 'Mortuus', would join MARDUK as their new frontman in February of 2004.
