Biography
Not to be confused with the well known early incarnation of Bay Area Thrashers TESTAMENT. LEGACY is a late 90s collaboration between Stockholm born bass player Marten Andersson and fellow Swedish guitarist Jonas Hansson. Both are also active members of the JONAS HANSSON BAND whilst Andersson also has credits with TAKARA and operates with theatric Metal band LIZZY BORDEN. Hansson's pedigree is rooted in noted Scandinavian 80s melodic Rock outfit SILVER MOUNTAIN which issued four renowned albums whilst Andersson has also made his mark outside of the music scene, authoring the book 'Make Label Contact' and featuring as an actor in television series such as as 'Sweet Justice', 'Rock n' Roll Detective', 'Midnight Heat', 'Divas' and 'To The End Of Times'.
The eponymous album, fronted by erstwhile LOST BREED vocalist Chris Roseberry and recorded at Mastergroove Studios in Granada Hills in California, sees a guest guitar spot from JOY BASU,actually a LEGACY founding member, and drums courtesy of Stephan Emig and Sammy J. Watson. APEX THEORY drummer Sammy J. Watson also guested. In early 2004 Andersson would join GEORGE LYNCH's band for national touring in March. The bassist also put out an album with the LIZZY BORDEN membership, albeit having undergone a Rock & Roll "Extreme makeover" to become STARWOOD for a 2004 opener 'If It Ain't Broke, Break It!'.
LEGACY contracted with British label Valhalla Records to re-master and re-release LEGACY's debut album clad in all new artwork and bonus tracks. An additional song, entitled 'So Long', added lead vocals from MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP singer Chris Logan. It would be learned in April 2006 that Andersson was to participate in a LIZZY BORDEN reformation.
Marten Andersson contributed session bass guitar on OVERDRIVE and LOCOMOTIVE BREATH guitarist Janne Stark's November 2006 MOUNTAIN OF POWER tribute collection.
