An atmospheric, melodic Black Metal act, Kvicksund based VINTERLAND came into existence during 1992. At the time they went under the name of GRIMOIRES and curiously, kept their first ever demo recording to themselves. A further demo, recorded two years later as UNLIGHT, was not deemed to be good enough either. This recording has never seen the light of day. Demo number three, 1994's 'A Castle So Crystal Clear', was mailed to No Fashion boss Tomas Nyqvist and one and a half years later VINTERLAND found themselves signed.

Having by this time taken on the cloak of VINTERLAND, the Swedish trio recorded the debut album 'Welcome My Last Chapter' during November 1995. The album, released in September 1996, comprised four new songs and five older cuts recorded at Unisound Studios. keyboards on this album were performed by Dan Swanö from EDGE OF SANITY, with the exception of 'So Far Beyond...' and 'Wings Of Sorrow' played by Jonas Hermansson.

Guitarist Pehr Larsson also operated in HARMONY, this unit evolving into MAZE OF TORMENT. Both vocalist / guitarist Daniel Forn Bragman and drummer Andreas Jonsson were to feature with THE BLACK, PORPHYRIA and TYRANT.

The VINTERLAND name was resurrected in 2008 as band members reunited to compose new material. Temple Of Darkness Records re-issued 'Welcome My last Chapter' on CD with a bonus cover version of MAYHEM's 'Freezing Moon'.
