The debut album by Death Metallers MIDVINTER, 1997's 'At The Sight Of The Apocalypse Dragon', was produced by KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy La Rocque. The band, founded by a union of erstwhile FOGBOUND and APOLLGON members in 1993, first tested the waters with the 'Midvinternatt' demo. MIDVINTER's initial line up comprised of vocalist Björn a.k.a. Vlad Morbius, guitarist Damien Midvinter and drummer Krille a.k.a. Kristeian of MELEK TAUS.

MIDVINTER's history now becomes cloudy. A proposed album recording, provisionally entitled 'Norrsken', was apparently curtailed when Damien and Krille came to blows the result of which that the drummer broke three ribs. Damien fled to Greece but was forced to return after suffering a motorbike accident. Supposedly after a short jail term he attempted to resurrect the band. An alliance was struck with BEWITCHED and NAGLFAR personnel Adde and Stolle although this version of MIDVINTER did not gel and the band folded. Unfortunately Björn, according to band sources, was subsequently admitted to a mental hospital.

MIDVINTER was resurrected in 1996 with new members ex-SETHERIAL vocalist Kheeroth (a.k.a. Tobias Fällström) and ex-SETHERIAL and member of SORHIN Zathanel (Anders Löfgren) on drums. Guest musicians on the album included DISSECTION's Jon Nödtveidt and former AT THE GATES and OXIPLEGATZ guitarist Alf Svensson.

Zathanel would later renew his SETHERIAL links founding BLACKWINDS for a 1999 EP in collaboration with his former band colleagues vocalist / guitarist Lord Kraath and drummer Lord Alastor Mysteriis.

Zathanel would also be operational with BLOT MINE alongside erstwhile SETHERIAL colleagues and, in alliance with Kheeroth and BLOT MINE personnel, VÅLNAD UR RYMD. Kheeroth guested in the studio on SORGHEGARD's 2004 'Wardemo' session.
