Biography

Black Metal act previously entitled TYRANT in which guise the band issued the 'Rise Of The Fallen' 1998 demo. At this stage the Jönköping band incorporated a line-up of former NOMINON vocalist / guitarist David Svartz, guitarist Tiwaz, female bass player Ahrijan (Anne Marek) and Emil Dragutinovic on drums. The original TYRANT, founded during 1996 by founders Tiwaz (a.k.a. Rikard Kottelin) and Svartz, also included a rhythm section of singer/bassist Trollheim (Mark Mårtensen) and Thurisaz (Lars Adolfsson) on drums. Both Trollheim and Thursaz broke away and Dragutinovic, then with NOMINON, became the new percussionist.

Re-titled LEGION in late 1999 a further demo 'Bloodaeons' arrived in 2000. This release would stand the band in good stead, pulling in positive reviews globally and selling over 1700 copies in the process. In early 2001 Sune Hammarström enrolled as lead vocalist and shortly after Lars 'Lazr' Martinsson of SCYTHER took the bass role.A four track demo closed with a cover version of VADER's 'Carnal'.

LEGION cut a 7" EP 'Awakened Fury' in April of 2002 for Neodawn Productions. This release, engineered by KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy LaRocque, was restricted to the traditional 666 copies.

Emil Dragutinovic's profile rose considerably as he landed the coveted spot as drummer with premier league Black Metal veterans MARDUK. The band, bringing in lead vocalist Anders Fäldt and amending their title to THE LEGION, signed to the French imprint Listenable Records in early 2003. The Tommy Tägtren produced 'Unseen To Creation' album arrived that October. A subsequent gatefold limited edition version of the album added a cover version of TESTAMENT's 'Curse Of The Legions Of Death'. Gigs were announced for early 2004 in league with IMPALED NAZARENE but these dates would then be cancelled.

On 12th February 2005, following MARDUK European shows, drummer Emil Dragutinovic had his arm broken in an attack, forcing the band to delay album recordings. THE LEGION parted ways with vocalist Anders Fäldt in early March. Album recordings later that year would be given the title 'Revocation'. In December the group announced the addition of CREST OF DARKNESS, SJODOGG and ENTHRAL man Kjetil Hektoen as their new singer. 'Revocation' was issued in February 2006.

Emil Dragutinovic joined the ranks of REBELANGELS in March 2006, the new band assembled by ex-MARDUK personnel frontman Legion and bassist B. War. Kristoffer Andersson of SARGATANAS REIGN and CARDINAL SIN joined THE LEGION as new bassist in June.

THE LEGION's third album, 'A Bliss To Suffer', was released on 27th April 2009 through Listenable Records. The album was entirely produced by the band members at Art Decay Studio.
