Jönköping Death Metal act founded during January 1993 by guitarist Juha Sulasalmi and vocalist Peter Nilsson following the demise of their previous band endeavour CHORONZON. As a duo, also performing in parallel as members of DION FORTUNE, they released two demos 'Daemon I' and 'Daemon II', both in 1993. This latter NOMINON session would see credits going out to Fafnir "howlings", Vvhorrkkh on guitar and Iaka on drums. However, in reality the tracks were once again recorded by just Juha Sulasalmi and Peter Nilsson.

NOMINON would put into stasis during 1994 but returned the following with with a line-up comprising Sulasalmi on drums, vocalist Nicke Holstensson, guitarist Christian Cederborg, second guitarist Jonas Mattson of Thrash Metal act INCINERATOR and ex-DION FORTUNE bassist Tobbe Hellman. Both Cederborg and Mattson were also veterans of XYMONTHRA.

The unit's inaugural live performance came the following February with a gig supporting VERMIN, DISMEMBER and DISSECTION. Cederborg would be removed upon completion of the 'My Flesh' demo, Sulasalmi taking his place on guitar and TYRANT's Emil Dragutinovic taking over on drums. In this incarnation NOMINON cut a second demo that year, succinctly entitled 'Demo II'. The 'Promo '97' tape followed, after which Hellman was forced out and David Svartz of THE LEGION installed in his stead.

NOMINON gained national exposue in 1998 after they were featured on the Swedish television programme 'Sefyr'. Further line-up changes found Lenny Blade, from APOCALYPTIC VISIONS, BULLET, BEYOND DREAMS and INCINERATOR, taking the bass position. The departing Tobbe Hellman subsequently gained credits with OBSCENE and 9TH PLAGUE. That October NOMINON entered Sunlight Studios to record their debut album 'Diabolical Bloodshed', eventually released by X-Treme Records in November of 1999. Just after recording the band had conducted a lighting tour of Germany. They would return as support to WARHAMMER in April of 1999. In outside activity, Lenny Blade acted as guest vocalist on MAZE OF TORMENT's 2000 album 'Death Strikes'.

Emil Dragutinovic bowed out in September 2001. His profile rose considerably as he landed the coveted spot as drummer with premier league Black Metal veterans MARDUK. Dragutinovic also maintained his position with his longterm act THE LEGION. Meantime, NOMINON persevered with drums being handed over to Perr Karlsson. NOMINON vocalist Nicke Holstensson would join THY PRIMORDIAL during June of 2003. By February of 2004 drummer Per Karlsson was installed in the ranks of IN AETERNUM.

With Jonas Mattson now handling lead vocals NOMINON made a return in 2003 with the demo cassette 'Blaspheming The Dead', this featuring a cover version of REPULSION's 'Decomposed'. In February 2004 the band issued EP 'The True Face Of Death' on Nuclear Winter Records. In May the group lost the services of Lenny Blade, the bassist opting to prioritise his other acts INCINERATOR and BULLET. June 2004 saw the recruitment of IMMERSED IN BLOOD man Joel Andersson taking command of bass duties whilst Juha Sulasalmi was to handle lead vocals whilst the band searched for a new singer. Having signed a new album deal with Singapore's Konqueror Records the band would enter Necromorbus Studios in the Autumn. NOMINON also made time to cut a rendition of VOIVOD's 'Live For Violence' for a tribute album released through France's Nihilistic Holocaust Records, as well as a take on WHIPLASH's 'Spit On Your Grave'.

In September NOMINON, enlisting ABSURDO CULTO singer Daniel Garptoft (a.k.a. 'Sick'), joined the 'Thunderstorm Over Europe' tour allied with BENEDICTION and GODHATE. That year the band donated their cover version of 'Live For Violence' to a Nihilistic Holocaust Records tribute album to early VOIVOD. NOMINON, swelling their ranks further with the addition of second guitarist Kristian Strömblad of AD MORTEM, entered Necromorbus studios in Stockholm with engineer Tore Stjerna in January 2005 to cut a new album 'Recremation', once again for Konqueror Records. The vinyl limited edition version, on Blood Harvest Records, added the WHIPLASH cover 'Spit On Your Grave'. European gigs in October and November, traversing Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg and Holland, saw NOMINON as support act to VITAL REMAINS.

In 2006 Colombian label Trauma Records issued the rarities album 'Remnants Of A Diabolical History', a limited edition of 1000 copies. Included would be alternate versions, the previously unreleased 'Diabolical Bloodshed', covers of WHIPLASH, VOIVOD and REPULSION plus demos. NOMINON announced the induction of IMMEMOREAL, THE INFESTATION, ABSINTH, TRYMHEIM and PROPHANITY man Anders Malmström as new bassist in October.

NOMINON undertook pre-production throughout December then booked two weeks at Necromorbus Studio with producer Tore Stjerna during February 2007 to cut new album tracks, setting 'Terra Necrosis' as the title. The album emerged that August.

The band partnered with NUNSLAUGHTER and DEMONICAL for European concerts in July 2007.

NOMINON commenced work on pre-production tracks in August 2009 for CD issue through Deathgasm Records and vinyl release via Blood Harvest Records.
