HOUSE OF SHAKIRA

Biography

A highly touted Swedish Melodic Rock band, HOUSE OF SHAKIRA made their British live debut at the 'Gods' festival event in Wigan during November 1997. Originally known as THE STATION, featuring ex-BEDLAM bassist Berndt Ek, guitarists Mats Hallstensson and Anders Lundström had played together in VISION. Mats Hallstensson and Anders Lundström had also been involved with PEPPES SKIVA.

The group had actually recorded an album for Planet Records in 1993, but the record was never released due to the label going bust. HOUSE OF SHAKIRA's original vocalist, Mikael Eriksson, was replaced by Andreas Eklund prior to the 'Lint' album being recorded. HOUSE OF SHAKIRA supported ROYAL HUNT on tour in Germany the same year.

The band's October 2001 limited edition 'Live + 1' opus was restricted to a mere 500 copies. HOUSE OF SHAKIRA signed to the Finnish Lion Music label in late 2003 for a new record 'First Class'. Further activity saw the band giving a donation of 'Tell The Truth' to the SWEET tribute album 'The Sweet According To Sweden' in 2004. The group would also cut their version of 'Shapes Of Things' for a GARY MOORE tribute album 'Give Us Moore' and RAINBOW's 'Lady Starstruck' for inclusion of the RITCHIE BLACKMORE tribute 'Blackmore's Castle Volume. 2'. HOUSE OF SHAKIRA bassist Per Schelander joined ROYAL HUNT in July 2005.

It was learned in March 2007 that HOUSE OF SHAKIRA was engaged in fresh album recordings for Lion Music.
