SKYFIRE, dating from 1995, hail from the small town of Höör. The initial incarnation numbered guitarists Andreas Edlund and Martin Hanner, bass player Jonas Sjögren along with drummer Tobias Björk. SKYFIRE would enlist the services of NAGLFAR and EMBRACING's vocalist / drummer Mattias Holmgren for recording of a debut December 1997 demo entitled 'Within Reach'. The band opted for a distinctly heavier approach for their next session 'The Final Story'. Vocals for this outing were handled by Hennrik Wenngren of MORNALAND. Wenngren also holds down membership of Death - Thrashers VICIOUS.

Mutual friends in Viking Metal band THYRFING suggested SKYFIRE to their label, the Dutch Hammerheart concern, and a deal was duly struck. Recording for the debut album would be overseen by producer Tommy Tägtgren of the Abyss studio. Japanese versions of 'Timeless Departure' added three extra tracks, namely demo versions of 'The Final Story', 'Skyfire' and 'By God Forsaken'.

The band formed up part of the 'Generation Armageddon' touring festival for a leg of European shows in May 2003, forming a live alliance with BLOOD RED THRONE, THYRFING, SEPTIC FLESH, PRIMORDIAL and ANCIENT RITES. SKYFIRE would enter Los Angered Studios in February 2004 with KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy LaRocque acting as producer to cut a new album. On drums would be Joakim Jonsson, a man citing affiliations with a multitude of acts such as SKYRUNNER, VORTEX, GANGJÄRN, KOBOLDERS, DREADSTATE, AXENSTAR, SKINFECTED, DUST, MORNALAND, AUTUMN DWELLER and THE MIST OF AVALON.

Spanish dates, supporting DARK MOOR in November, found the band employing WIDOW, ANDROMEDA, OPUS ATLANTICA and NONEXIST guitarist Johan Reinholdz.

SKYFIRE released their fourth album, 'Esoteric' recorded at Powernest Studios in Gothenburg, in the autumn of 2009 via Pivotal Rockordings.
