Biography

Yet another Scandinavian act attempting to out-gross the originators of the genre. Hjärup based DERANGED, debuting with the 1992 demo cassette 'The Confessions Of A Necrophile', contributed a cover of the VENOM track 'In League With Satan' on the 1992 Primitive Art Records tribute album 'Promoters Of The Third World War'. Obliteration Records would then issue the 1993 EP 'The Confessions Continues'. Singer Per Gyllenbäck gained considerable kudos on the Swedish Metal scene with his personal Metal imprint Wrong Again records, giving a valuable kick start to acts such as ARCH ENEMY and IN FLAMES amongst many others.

The band contributed the original cut 'Hammer Cottered Rectum' to the 1993 Repluse Records compilation 'Sometimes Dead Is Better'. The follow ups would come in the form of the 'Upon The Medical Slab' 7" single for MMI Records and an EP 'Architects Of Perversion', recorded at Studio Koket in the Winter of 1993 and featuring a guesting Mike Amott of CARCASS on guest guitar.

In 1995 bassist Jean-Paul Asenov was sacked and superseded by Mikael Bergman. The latter's stay with the band was fairly shortlived and he was fired shortly afterward, which led to guitarist Johan Axelsson performing bass duties on the 'Rated X' sessions, which included a rendition of the ROLLING STONES 'Paint It Black', prior to the band recruiting former INVERTED bassist Dan Bengtsson. Meantime, guitarist Johan Axelsson, bassist Dan Bengtsson and drummer Rikard Wermén were also active with a side act entitled MURDER CORPORATION, fronted by ex-MEGASLAUGHTER vocalist Emil Lilic and issuing the 1996 album 'Blood Revolution 2050'. Around this juncture, Per Gyllenbäck contributed his vocals to an IN FLAMES demo track 'The Inborn Lifeless', later to evolve into 'The Jester Race' album's 'Dead God In Me'.

Sessions were cut for an intended mini-album to be titled 'Sculptures Of The Dead' for the German Invasion label but this material was shelved. These tracks would surface though as part of a limited edition package of the 'Ratex X' album, the first 2000 copies adding the extra disc.

The 'III' album, produced by Berno Paulsson at Berno Studios in May of 1999, emerged in 2000. The French Listenable Records label would take three tracks from these sessions to be paired with ABSCESS for a split album release.

DERANGED put in headline shows in Japan during October and November of 2000. Renewed live work in Europe during May 2001 saw the band oin a package billing with IMMOLATION, Australians DESTROYER 666, DECAPITATION and SOUL DEMISE. The Perverted Taste label would the same year re-issue the inaugural 'Rated X' set along with a bonus disc of material from the 'Architects Of Perversion' and unreleased 'Sculptures Of Death' mini-albums.

Following the release of the 2001 eponymous album for Merciless Records frontman Johan Anderberg decamped. DERANGED quickly regrouped announcing a line-up of the DEAD SUN, PAGANIZER and BLODSRIT credited Rogga Johansson on vocals, guitarist Johan Axelsson, Jörgen Bylander of CELEBORN and DEFACED CREATION on bass and drummer Rikard Werman.

By 2002 DERANGED had been whittled down to a trio comprising SKULLFUCK man Calle Fäldt on vocals and bass, guitarist Johan Axelsson and drummer Rikard Wermén. Promoting the 'Plainfield Cemetery' album the group acted as support to KREATOR's October UK shows. Fäldt also acted as live session man for MISTELTEIN that same year. Also in 2002 Johan Axelsson and Rikard Wermén fired up a new outfit billed as KILLAMAN in alliance with being frontman Rune Foss of EXEMPT and RECLUSION, second guitarist Roger Johansson of INSISION and bass player Kaspar Larsen of WITHERING SURFACE.

Fäldt would reunite with his SKULLFUCK colleague John Huldt in the 2004 technical Thrash combo FEARED CREATION, this band also including the MASSGRAV, OMINOUS and THE FORSAKEN credited frontman Anders Sjöholm along with MISTELTEIN bassist Magnus Gillberg.

DERANGED reformed in 2005, signing to French label Listenable Records for a new album, at first billed 'Obscenities In B Flat' but then changed to 'The Red Light Murder Case', recording at Berno Studios in Malmö. The band teamed up with AMPUTATED and SKINNED for the "Bloodjunkies Killing Spree '05" UK tour in November. DERANGED announced European plans for early 2006 in union with Italy's NATRON but subsequently cancelled, apparently due to employment commitments. In April DERANGED severed ties with vocalist/bassist Calle Fäldt citing "personal and musical differences." The band acquired a new singer in the shape of Martin Schönherr, drummer with Malmö Grindsters SPLATTER MERMAIDS.

DERANGED inducted the MONOLITH, END, ARSONIST and PANDEMONIUM credited Tomas Ahlgren as their new bassist in November 2006. The band announced a headlining a European tour commencing in April 2007 with RESURRECTED, EPICEDIUM and DEMONICAL as support.
