WITHIN Y feature former GARDENIAN and SUNCASE drummer Thim Blom. The Gothenburg based band debuted during 2002 with the demo 'Feeble And Weak', being founded in March of that year by NEMESIS and EVILDOER singer Andreas Solveström along with the MNEMONIC guitar duo of Nikke Almen and Mikael Nordin. Adding Thim Blom to the line up this unit entered Musikbörsen Studios to craft the 'Feeble And Weak' sessions. Matte Wänerstam took on bass for these tracks and would subsequently join WITHIN Y on a full time basis. Off to a flying start, Sweden's largest Rock magazine 'Close Up' awarded the demo a full 10 out of 10.

The band, recording during September of 2003 at Meta4Music Studios in Gothenburg, debuted in March of 2004 with the album 'Extended Mental Dimensions', issued through Holland's Karmageddon Media label. A promotional video for the track 'Face Down' was directed by David Andersson, drummer for Thrash metal band KALIBER. The band parted ways with guitarist Niklas Almen in December. A replacement would be found in Niknam Moslehi during early 2005.

WITHIN Y entered GBG Sound Studios in September to cut a second album 'Portraying Dead Dreams' for release through Gain Records in May 2006. The album charted in Sweden at number 46.

In November it was revealed WITHIN Y members Andreas Solveström and Jonas Larsson had teamed up with KALIBER drummer David Andersson to launch a new side project called ORO. WITHIN Y parted ways with drummer Thim Blom in December. The group pulled in new sticksman Erik Hagström in April 2007.

WITHIN Y's third album, 'The Cult', entered the Swedish national chart at no. 24 in January 2008. A promotional video was filmed for the track 'Facing Reality'.
