Biography

Gothenburg's RICKSHAW aim to blend Punk with a healthy injection of classic Rock & Metal. RICKSHAW came into being during 1998, founded by vocalist / guitarist 'Bobby Dawn' (Robert Nilsson) and guitarist Jocke. RICKSHAW frontman Bobby Dawn previously operated as guitarist for DORIAN GRAY, HIGH TV and PEEKABOO STREET as well as serving time on the drums with LORELEI. Bassist Carlos Satanos was formerly with Hard Rockers ABANDON. The group underwent a series of line up changes, losing early members such as keyboard player Andreas 'Andy Bebop' Ȫstberg, drummer Magnus Timmeras and bass player Henrik Antonsson.

The band's debut EP 'The Electric Showdown' for the HDP label swiftly sold out of the initial pressing of 300 with a second run, again of just 300 but manufactured in red vinyl, soon selling out too. Their next effort in 2000, a combined single with TRIGGER, would be restricted to 500 white vinyl copies.

In 2002 RICKSHAW embarked upon a whole slew of varied endeavours including a version of the KENNY ROGERS / DOLLY PARTON Country & Western hit 'Islands In The Stream' for a Country tribute, a take on the KISS ballad 'Beth' for Nosebleeder Records, TANK's 'Don't Walk Away' for yet another tribute collection and a split single with THE AWESOME MACHINE.

A split single was delivered in collaboration with American Punks THE STRAP ONS for the Bootleg Blooze label. A further shared effort, an album with TRIGGER entitled 'Action...Go!' surfaced in September of 2002.
