Biography

A heavily theatric 'Horror' Metal band assembled by drummer Snowy Shaw, better known for his work with MERCYFUL FATE and KING DIAMOND. Shaw's first side project outside of the KING DIAMOND confines was ILLWILL. However, this Gothenburg based band would quickly lead to the formation of NOTRE DAME made up of Shaw's one time girlfriend and dancer Vampirella (Melissa Swan) together with the brothers Mannequin (Manuel Xavier De Sade) and Jean Pierre De Sade from Death Metal band BLOODGROUP. Mannequin also cites credits with KATATONICA and CORPSE OF CHRIST. Apparently the De Sade's are genuine lineal descendants of the infamous author the Marquis De Sade.

Ironically NOTRE DAME would debut with a track 'Into The Coven' included on a MERCYFUL FATE tribute album. This recording featured MERCYFUL FATE guitarist Michael Denner as guest. The band's debut proper came with the 'Coming To A Theatre Near You' EP on Head Not Found Records. The impact made by this release led in turn to a deal with the French Osmose Productions concern.

1999 saw a split single 'Abbatoir, Abbatoir Du Noir' shared with FORGOTTEN SILENCE. A much sought after rarity, this release was limited to 555 copies.

Shaw would also put his energies into the act DREAM EVIL, debuting with the 2002 'Dragonslayer' album. Fronted by Niklas Isfeldt the group witnessed a union of guitarist Fredrik Nordstrom (noted for his work as an in demand producer), MYSTIC PROPHECY and FIREWIND guitarist Gus G.and bassist Peter Stalfors.

NOTRE DAME set 'Demi Monde Bizarros' as the title of a new studio album slated for April of 2004. In September Daniel "Morbid mojjo" Moilanen, of RELEVANT FEW, RUNEMAGICK, DRACENA, MINDSNARE, SANDALINAS and FUNERAL ORCHESTRA repute, was announced as the band's new drummer. Moilanen had previously performed with NOTRE DAME at the band's Summer festivals appearances as a stand in for original drummer Mannequin De Sade, who was sidelined due to an apparent "self-inflicted injury."

NOTRE DAME's Halloween show in Gothenburg on 6th November 2004 would be announced as the band's final gig. The gig, which coincided with the group's sixth anniversary, was recorded and filmed for a posthumous DVD 'Creepshow Freakshow Peepshow'. Early 2005 revealed that Snowy Shaw was recording tracks for a projected solo endeavour in collaboration with the ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, TREAT and AT VANCE credited singer Mats Levén. In May a video for the track 'XXX - Le Masochiste' emerged online.

Snowy Shaw revealed in August that he was collaborating with HAMMERFALL vocalist Joacim Cans on material for his second solo album. Announced in December 2006, Stockholm Punk band FUKK comprised Snowy Shaw on drums, singer Jensara Swann plus guitarist Irina, ex-MARDUK vocalist Legion's wife, and bass player Gothness.
