Biography

Melodic rockers GEISHA are often cited as being Danish but were actually formed in Gothenburg, Sweden. A later move to Copenhagen and the addition of Danish vocalist Yenz 'Cheyenne' Leonhardt created the confusion. Cheyenne was previously with BRATS, the band that had once also spawned MERCYFUL FATE. Guitarist Pete Blakk (real name Peter Jacobsson) was previously a member of the E.F. BAND and TRAZER.

Having released an album through British label Heavy Metal, 1987's 'Phantasmagoria', that found them offering a combination of Melodic Rock and Glam Rock Sleaze, drummer Mickey Dee, previously with NADIR, later surfaced in KING DIAMOND and MOTȪRHEAD. Blakk and original bassist Hal Patino also joined KING DIAMOND. With the departure of Dee his position was filled by former EUROPE skinsman Tony Nemistö. Cheyenne and NeMisto later formed YENZ with ex-FREAK OF NATURE guitarist Oliver Stefansson. This unit put out a 1989 demo and a video promotion for the song 'House Of Carnivores'. YENZ duly evolved into Y, releasing two albums in the early 90s. Subsequently, Leonhardt was enrolled as touring rhythm guitarist for KINGDOM COME and by December of 2003 was installed as bassist for German power Metal band IRON SAVIOR.

2004 saw bassist Joel Starander operating as part of SAYIT's live band. That same year Starander guested on the HEARTBREAK RADIO project, this also involving former colleague Mikkey Dee.
