Biography

Gothenburg's M.A.N, announced in June 2005, was at first confused as a re-branding of popular Swedish Metal band TRANSPORT LEAGUE, originally created itself by B-THONG vocalist Tony Jelencovich as a side project during 1994. Following a succession of albums the band reportedly changed name to M.A.N in June 2005. First product under this new billing would be the album 'Obey, Consume, Reject'. However, official word was then forthcoming stating that M.A.N. was in fact a side endeavour of TRANSPORT LEAGUE, and not a replacement. The band obviously had a change of heart because in August they issued word that "TRANSPORT LEAGUE is no more!! We have decided to bury this ship for good!" However, in early September Tony Jelencovich joined Danish act MNEMIC as their new frontman.

'Obey, Consume, Reject', recorded at Grand Recordings in Gothenburg by Svein Jensen, would be scheduled for March 2006 release through the group's own Hoffa Communications imprint. M.A.N, with Martin Meyerman on guitar, scored the support slot to FEAR FACTORY's Scandinavian gigs throughout March and April. The group parted ways with drummer Magnus 155 in August. Another membership change that same month saw bassist Stitch taking his leave. This position was filled swiftly by replacement by Robert Hakemo, of RELEVANT FEW, ENGEL, GARDENIAN, KEROZENE and GOOSEFLESH repute.

October Scandinavian gigs had the band partnered with MNEMIC for shows in Sweden, Estonia and Finland. The group pulled in new drummer Andreas Engberg in November. As 2007 opened, M.A.N signed a deal with the Gothenburg based label Gain Records for the mainland European release of the group's debut album 'Obey, Consume, Reject'.

In early 2007 it was revealed Jeloncovich had forged a new Death Metal act billed C-187 in alliance with PESTILENCE guitarist Patrick Mameli, ex-CYNIC and ATHEIST bassist Tony Choy and the CYNIC, DEATH, AEON SPOKE and GORDIAN KNOT credited Sean Reinert on drums. Signing to Dutch imprint Mascot Records, C-187 cut debut album tracks that February at Space Lab Studios in Düsseldorf in Germany.

Martin Meyerman was revealed to be working with a high profile side act, DEAD BY APRIL, fronted by singer Jimmie Strimell of PAINFIELD, NIGHTRAGE and DEATHDESTRUCTION repute, RAPTURE, DRAGONLAND and THE RETURNING guitarist Olof Mörck, bassist Staffan Persson of WHEN WE FALL plus drummer Richard Evansand, whose scene credentials included SORCEROR, MANIC DEPRESSION, IT'S ALIVE, SOUTHPAW, DOG FACED GODS, DEMONOID, THERION, LIONS SHARE and EBONY TEARS.

M.A.N's sophomore album, entitled 'Peacenemy', was released in Europe in March 2008, and April in North America, via Tief Druck Musik. The album was recorded at Grand Recordings in Gothenburg, Sweden with producer/engineer Svein Jensen and then mastered by Göran Finnberg at Mastering Room. It featured a guest appearance by Burton C. Bell of FEAR FACTORY and ASCENSION OF THE WATCHERS on the track 'My Own Sickness'.

The group commenced recording a third album on 18th September 2009 once again at Grand Recordings with producer Carlos Sepulveda and engineer Svein Jensen to begin laying down the drum and bass tracks. The guitars were recorded at Belly of the Whale. These sessions were mixed by Ulrich Wild.
