SKYRIDE was forged in Falun during December 2005 by ex-MANDRAKE man Christian Ericsson and SABATON's Jocke Brodèn, the idea for a new Heavy Metal band apparently formulated whilst the duo were "drunk as Hell". Drummer Richard Larsson, from ORPHAN GYPSY and SABATON, became involved and soon another pair of MANDRAKE musicians, guitarists Tobias Tångfelt and Jocke Johansson enrolled. Pierre Stam, of IN MOURNING, took on bass duties but after just one day of rehearsals Johansson took his leave. His place was swiftly taken by Ken LaRock.

SKYRIDE first performed live on July 29th 2006 at the Falun Pub Engelbrekt. Demo sessions, dubbed 'Join The Ride', followed.
