Biography

Eskilstuna Death Metal band founded in 1990 under the original moniker of MACRODEX, releasing demos under that title, 'Disgorged To Carrion' in February 1989, 'Infernal Excess' in June 1989 and 'Remains Of A Lost Life' the following year. The group, counting a membership of vocalist Christian Eriksson, guitarists Roger Petterson, ex-TEARS OF GRIEF and INFESTER, plus Peter Petersson, bassist Stefan Karlsson with Mikael Sjöberg on drums, transformed itself into CRYPT OF KERBEROS. After the release of 1991 the 'Visions Beyond Darkness' single guitarist Johan Löhnroth and drummer Mikael Sjöberg split and Jonas Strandell and Mattias Borgh were drafted in to fill the respective vacancies.

CRYPT OF KERBEROS issued a follow up single in 1992 and the 'World Of Myths' album, recorded at Studio Skyline in January 1993. Album track 'The Canticle' would be included on the Displeased Records compilation 'Against All Gods'. In 1995, the group lost the services of both guitarist Jonas Strandell and keyboard player Jessica Strandell. Substituting on guitar would be Johan Hallgren and Marcus Pederson was introduced on bass. With these new members the band wrote and recorded new songs in Studio Underground in Eskilstuna. However, vocals never got to be recorded and these sessions only proceeded to rough mix status. Nevertheless, due to the positive response to the debut album labels such as Earache Records, Inline Records and Roasting House all expressed interest.

CRYPT OF KERBEROS underwent a further line-up change with Pederson relinquishing his bass position. The HOUSE OF USHER credited Stefan Källarsson enrolled but then singer Christian Eriksson exited. The band regrouped, drafting singer Daniel Gildenlöw and keyboard man Peter Jansson and commenced rehearsals for a proposed second album given a working title of 'Nadia'. This material saw the band embarking upon a grandiose concept album with much more melodic overtones than its predecessor. Pre-production tapes were crafted at Studio Skyline but then the band began to fragment, officially splitting in 1995.

With the demise of CRYPT OF KERBEROS, Peter Petersson became a member of ARCANA. Guitarist Johan Hallgren and frontman Daniel Gildenlöw subsequently joined PAIN OF SALVATION. Peter Jansson was inducted into MAZE OF TORMENT.

The Australian label Anatomy Bleed Records planned an archival release to comprise early demos, the two 7" EP's and some reahearsals previous to 'World Of Myths' to be collected together as 'Crypt of Kerberos: The Macrodex of War'.

CRYPT OF KERBEROS announced a band reformation in January 2006.
