Previously known as NECROFOBIC, the Swedes changed titles to DECAMERON in 1991 and released their first demo in 1992 titled 'My Grave Is Calling'. Frontman Alex Losbäck also moonlighted with RUNEMAGICK in the early 90's whilst drummer Tobias Kjellgren is ex-SWORDMASTER. One of the band's original guitarists Johan Norman quit to join DISSECTION in mid 1994 and also joined SACRAMENTUM. DECAMERON soldiered on utilising the temporary services of LORD BELIAL guitarist Dark. A permanent member was later found in Johnny Lehto. Drummer Tobias Kellgren departed following completion of the debut album, which was issued in 1996.

Kjellgren would later joined DISSECTION in December 1995. By 2002 both Kjellgren and guitarist Johannes Losbäck were resident in Power Metal band SEVENTH ONE, signing to the Massacre label for a debut album 'Sacrifice'. Kellgren joined up as touring member of IN FLAMES during October 2005, as regular drummer Daniel Svensson, awaiting the birth of his second child, sat out these shows.
