Biography

BEETHOVEN R. employed former BELLA BESTIA and erstwhile DAMA DE CORAZONES members. The group, founded in Madrid by bassist PIEL METAL and BELLA BESTIA Pepe Mari San Segundo during December 1997, made a rapid impression on the local scene by always using Beethoven 5th Symphony as their set opener. BEETHOVEN R.'s inaugural line-up would comprise Mari alongside STYLE, DARK MOOR and BELLA BESTIA singer Ivan Urbistondo, guitarists Jose Luis Sainz, of BELLA BESTIA, PLATA DEL LAY and RUTA 69, and the AZOTE, BELLA BESTIA and RAZA credited Javier Kiercheben, and drummer Antonio Alcoba, of BELLA BESTIA and REINA DE CORAZONES. A demo, 'Ja, Ja', was cut in 1998.

The band debuted commercially with an album for the A La Caza Del Nu label, also titled 'Ja, Ja', in 1999. 'Un Poco Más' surfaced in February 2001 through new label Avispa. Upon completion of the 'Un Poco Mas' tour, Urbistondo left the band and joined CUATRO GATOS. He would be superseded by Kiko Hagall, of ALBORDE and HOJA SECA. A year later Kiercheben left the band to create WAYLAND.

BEETHOVEN R. would spend much of 2003 working on a third studio album entitled 'El Legado De Judas'. With the album's release in 2004 Jose Ignacio Carlos joined as second guitarist. In May 2004 Hagall exited and BEETHOVEN R. re-inducted Ivan Urbistondo.

In 2008 Carlos left the band and was promptly replaced by Jesus Gonzalez Chechu. To celebrate BEETHOVEN R's ten year anniversary the Avispa label released the compilation album 'Larga Vida', which included three previously unreleased tracks 'Hermanos De Sangre', 'Más Quiero Más' and 'Qué Quieres De Mi (Piano version)'. At the same juncture the band set about recording new tracks for the album 'IV: Más Vale Tarde Que Nunca'. In October 2008 San Segundo left the band, to create his own band P.M., and was replaced by Juan Carlos Adeva Moreno, a veteran of RUTA 69, PLATA DE LEY and LA REVUELTA.
