Biography

Hailing originally from South Africa, SEETHER, created in May of 1999 under the formative billing of SARON GAS, made a significant impact upon the modern Rock scene in North America. The group had been formed up as a trio comprising vocalist / guitarist Shaun Welgemoed, bassist Dale Stewart and drummer David Cohoe. The band signed to Musketeer Records in September 2000 and, working with top South African producer Brian O'Shea, crafted the 'Fragile' album. This album hosted two radio hits, 'Fine Again' and '69 Tea'. This success in their homeland triggered a deal with US label Wind Up Entertainment, at this juncture the band taking on a revised title of SEETHER. 2002 brought about changes though as Cohoe exited in February, being superseded by Nick Oshiro. Welgemoed legally changed his name 'Morgan' that April.

The debut album 'Disclaimer' would see the veteran VANDALS and A PERFECT CIRCLE credited Josh Freese deputizing on drums. The band's profile would be heightened in the USA by the inclusion of tracks on blockbuster movie soundtracks, 'Hang On' appearing on 'Daredevil' and ''Out Of My Way' included with 'Freddy Vs. Jason'. SEETHER acquired second guitarist Pat Callahan and also pulled in former NIXONS drummer John Humphrey during December 2003. SEETHER scored a monster hit with the melancholic nu-ballad 'Broken', a duet performed with Amy Lee of EVANESCENCE, Morgan's girlfriend, originally scored for 'The Punisher' movie soundtrack.

SEETHER united with DARK NEW DAY for US gigs throughout July and August 2005. Further dates in October and November witnessed supports to AUDIOSLAVE. The group's first announced live work for 2006 broke new territory as the group headlined three festivals in South Africa during March. SEETHER put in shows in Centurion, Durban and Cape Town as part of the METALLICA headlined 'Coca-Cola Colab Massive Mix' bill comprising SIMPLE PLAN, THE RASMUS, FATBOY SLIM, and COLLECTIVE SOUL.

Guitarist Patrick Callahan parted ways with the band, who resolved to persevere as a trio.
