A Gothic styled Metal band, ARTROSIS was formed in Zielona Góra during 1997. Led by vocalist Magdalena 'Medeah' Stupkiewicz and also featuring Maciej Niedzielski on keyboards with guitarist Krzysztof Bialas the group cut their debut album, 'Ukryty Wymiar', for Morbid Noizz Productions, being licensed across Europe by Tilo Wolff of LACRIMOSA's Hall Of Sermon label. Second set 'W Imie Nocy' followed in 1998, also put out as an English variant re-branded 'In Nomine Noctis'. ARTROSIS then switched labels to Metal Mind Productions for 1999's 'Posród Kwiatów I Cieni' set. This saw an English version billed as 'In The Flower's Shade'.

By 2001 Dobosz and Niedzielski were joined by guitarist Rafal Grunt and bass player Marcin Pendowski. Niedzielski has a veritable roll call of Polish Metal credentials, having contributed to recordings by such artists as BEHEMOTH, PROFANUM, UMBRA, DESOLATION ZONE, SHADOW OF THE WHORE and UNDISH amongst many others. Metal Mind Productions put out the 'Fetish' album that same year and a live album 'Koncert W Trójce'. The fifth ARTROSIS album, 'Melange', arrived in 2002.

The band partnered with CLOSTERKELLER for Polish touring, dubbed "ClostOsis - Abracadabra Gothic", in October 2005. However, a major line-up upheaval saw the departure of keyboard player Maciej Niedzielski, guitarist Rafal Grunt and bassist Marcin Pendowski. Regrouping, ARTROSIS subsequently comprised Magdalena Stupkiewicz, guitarist MacKozer (Krystian Kozerawski), of HERMH and SACRIVERSUM, bass player Remo (Remigiusz Mielczarek), also SACRIVERSUM, keyboard man Migdal (Lukasz Migdalski), of AION and LEBENSTEUER, with Lombardo (Konrad Biczak), of SACRIVERSUM, on drums.

Supporting the 'Con Trust' album a further extensive tour of Poland was conducted in November 2006, supported by LEBENSSTEUER.
