Initially a one man Doom project pioneered by erstwhile ATROX guitarist Gunder Audun Dragsten, GODSEND issued a three song demo in 1992 featuring drummer / vocalist Dan Swanö of EDGE OF SANITY, UNICORN, NIGHTINGALE and PAN.THY.MONIUM for the tracks 'Starfall', 'Slaydream' and 'Silence Of Time'. 'Slaydream' later appeared on the compilation album 'Against All Gods'. For the debut album, 'As The Shadows Fall', released by the French Holy Records label in November of 1993, Dragsten drafted in Swano once more plus another EDGE OF SANITY member, drummer Benny Larsson.

For the second outing 'Into The Electric Mist' Dragsten succeeded in building a full band compliment of lead vocalist Per Morten Kjöl, second guitarist Tom Wahl, bass player Tommy Halseth of WÅTTAMEZZ and Henrik Pettersen on drums. Halseth later recorded with ATROX and GRIFFIN.

A completely new band was assembled for 1998's 'A Wayfarer's Tears'. Coming back into the fold would be Dan Swano and Benny Larsson alongside guitarist Tomas Steinscherer and NIGHTINGALE bassist Erik Oskarsson.
