Biography

Progressive Metal act TRITONUS features guitarist CARL AUGUST TIDEMANN, known for his high profile work with ARCTURUS, WINDS and FLEURETY. TRITONUS, fronted by former SAINTS AND SINNERS vocalist Rolf Kristensen, released the 1994 demo 'Shadowland'. The band line-up for these sessions comprised Kristensen, guitarists Carl August Tidemann and Thor Axel Eriksen, bassist Øystein Moe, keyboard player André Sæter and Eric Sevrin on the drums. However, Sevrin had just exited the band immediately prior to recording so a drum machine was utilised. In 1995 TRITONUS contributed two tracks, 'Change' and 'Change Of Reason', to the 'Scream' magazine compilation 'A Gathering Of Eight Norwegian Progmetal Bands'.

CARL AUGUST TIDEMANN then released a solo guitar album 'Stylistic Changes'. Featured musicians on this outing would be erstwhile TRITONUS members André Sæther and Øystein Moe.

TRITONUS added keyboard player Lasse Finbråten in 1997. Bassist Øystein Moe was replaced by Mathis Dikkanen. Tidemann guested as lead guitarist on demos for DIABLA in 2000. Lasse Finbråten briefly joined DIABLA, his tenure lasting for just one concert. By 2002 Tidemann, in union with Jan Axel von Blomberg (a.k.a. Hellhammer of MAYHEM and THE KOVENANT), was active with WINDS and AGE OF SILENCE. Meantime, TRITONUS finally got around to recording a debut album in mid 2005. Ex-member Øystein Moe guested on WINDS album sessions in early 2006.
