Biography

Oslo's ZEENON, founded in 1995 as SPOOKY BALLOONS by bass player Nina Engen Hansen and Linn Pedersen, operated initially in Industrial tinged Thrash Metal territory. The band, rounded out by guitarist Linda Aurland, paid their dues on the live circuit as a covers act but within their first year built up a solid enough repertoire of original tracks to fuel a crop of self-financed EPs 'Zeenon' and 1996's 'Dhuma'.

Enlisting Tom V. Nilsen on the drums in 2000 ZEENON recorded the 'Against The World' EP. However, Hansen was to be diagnosed with leukemia. Despite this setback the bassist staunchly committed herself to the band's progress. ZEENON donated tracks to compilation albums assembled by Vampiria magazine and Dead Puppy Records 'Sick Music For Sick Children' (a Metallized version of the children's song 'I`m A Little Teapot'!) as well as putting in an appearance at the 2001 'Inferno' festival. By the Spring of 2002 Elin Henden of DESIDERIUM was drafted to cover for Hansen, by this stage too weak to perform live. Sadly, on 30th July 2002 Nina Hansen passed away.

That November, with Henden installed as a permanent member, ZEENON laid down the 'Inject The Truth' EP. After Tom V. Nilsen exited in March of 2003, prioritising his other act KOLDBRANN, the band enlisted the services of THE ALLSEEING I and PULVERHUND drummer Mads Guldbekkhei, also announcing their intention to boost their sound by recruiting a second guitarist.

By early 2004 ZEENON had shed their Thrash mantle with the 'Arbor Vitae' EP to become a full on Death Metal act. Following a brief burst of dates as support to VADER the band signed with the UK based Retribute Records. The album 'Blood Vessel Criteria' would be recorded at Strand Studios
