Oslo based melodic Rock act ROAD released the 'Running Away' EP in 1985. ROAD drummer Willy Bendiksen holds credits with COMPANY OF SNAKES, JORN LANDE, BAD HABITZ and PERFECT CRIME. Prior to forging ROAD Bendiksen had already travelled through a number of acts including ST. HELENA in 1971, FLAX between 1974 and '75, HOST, issuing the 1976 album 'Hardt Mot Hardt' and FLAX once again in 1978. ROAD was borne when the drummer, together with fellow backing musicians for Pop singer Jannicke, struck out on their own. The group debuted in 1983 with the album 'This Is Just Rock 'N' Roll'.

Initially the group was fronted by Knut Akselsen who was superseded by Borge Pedersen, of BAD HABITZ repute. Other band members also held scene credentials, guitarist Jimmy Iversen with PERFECT CRIME and BLONDE ON BLONDE, and bass player Øystein Ringsby with DIEZEL and TINDRUM.
