Biography
Fabled Norwegian Dark Rock act established in 1995, first issuing a self-titled EP in 1998. Signing to Virgin Records Norway in 1998, alternative rockers MADRUGADA debuted with the 'Industrial Silence' album. Recording line-up for these sessions, recorded at Athletic Sound Studios in Halden, comprised singer Sivert Høyem, guitarist Robert Burås, bass player Frode Jacobsen with Jon Lauvland Pettersen on drums. Three tracks, 'Sirens', 'Quite Emotional' and 'Terraplane' were recorded live. The first 5,000 copies of 'Industrial Silence' came with a free, three track EP.
Second album 'The Nightly Disease', crafted at Warner Music Recorders In Hoboken, New Jersey, emerged in 2001, after which Pettersen opted out in order to join MILESTONE REFINERY, followed by the Head co-produced 'Grit', laid down at Tritonus Tonstudio in Berlin with Simen Vangen on drums.
In 2004, MADRUGADA worked at Sound City in Los Angeles with producer George Drakoulias and engineer David Bianco on 'The Deep End'. This opus notably included a collaboration with composer Angelo Badalamenti on the track 'Hold On To You'. A concert recording, 'Live At Tralfamadore' recorded in front of 8000 fans at a sold out Oslo Spektrum, was delivered just twelve days after the show in December 2005. Included would be a cover version of THE GUN CLUB's 'Mother Of Earth' featuring original band guitarist Kid Congo Powers. 'Live At Tralfamadore' entered the Norwegian charts at number one.
