LAMENTED SOULS is a groove based Oslo Doom band conceived by elite Black Metal veterans. The membership comprises Apollyon (a.k.a. Ole Jørgen Moe) of DØDHEIMSGARD, AURA NOIR and CADAVER INC., Simon Hestnæs (ICS Vortex) from BORKNAGAR, ARCTURUS and DIMMU BORGIR, Olav Knutsen (Bestial Tormentor) of DEMON CLEANER and INFERNÖ with drummer Einar Sjurso (Necrodevil) of VIRUS, INFERNÖ and BEYOND DAWN. The 2004 album 'The Origin Of Misery', released on the Duplicate label, comprised tracks dating between 1993 and 1997.

In January 2005 Simon Hestnæs rejoined ARCTURUS as their new frontman. Hestnæs enrolled as frontman for CODE in January 2007.
