Biography

Vying with each other in rival Rock bands around their native Oslo, the five members of Norwegian AOR band DA VINCI joined forces to form the strongest unit possible. DA VINCI soon found interest from PolyGram who hooked the aspiring quintet up with producer Bjorn Nessjoe who co-produced the group's 1988 issued eponymous debut. Featuring the talents of guitarist Gunnar Westle, a man influenced by an odd craving for 70's Progressive Rock records, DA VINCI initially hit the live trail playing a mixture of original and cover material. The response to the first album led to the group getting the nod to proceed with a second effort, 1989's 'Back In Business'.

DA VINCI would commence recording of a third album but lost their record deal before these tapes could be finalised and the only material to surface from these sessions would be a single, 'Ain't No Goodbyes' / 'Blame It On The Radio'. Both 'Da Vinci' and 'Back In Business' saw subsequent Japanese release through the Zero Corporation label. Bassist Bjorn Boge would later turn up in STREET LEGAL. By 2001 he was fronting an all star impromtu band for a short Norwegian tour which included in its ranks ex-EUROPE and DON DOKKEN guitarist JOHN NORUM, former THIN LIZZY and MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Brian Robertson and 'Wild Willy' Bendicskon on drums from BAD HABITS.

In 2005 DA VINCI members Gunnar Westlie and Dag Selboskar forged EIDSIVATING in collaboration with Geir Digernes from SONS OF ANGELS plus Leif Digernes and Øystein Mo. Meantime, DA VINCI frontman Robert Aass would be active with a CHICAGO covers band and his own publishing company, Waterfall Music.

Germany's MTM Classix label re-issued 'Back In Business', with extra track 'Blame It On The Radio', in November 2006.
