Biography

AGE OF SILENCE is a 2003 Oslo formation, grounded on the Black Metal traditions of BORKNAGAR, CARPATHIAN FOREST and SOLEFALD man Lazare (a.k.a. Lars Are Nedland), bassist Lars Eikund (Lars Eric Si) of TULUS, WINDS and KHOLD repute and the notorious drummer Hellhammer (Jan Axel Von Blomberg), boasting a wealth of experience with acts such as MAYHEM, EMPEROR, WINDS, THE KOVENANT, ARCTURUS, MEZZERSCHMIT, IMMORTAL, TROLL, THORNS, ULVER, FLEURETY, SHINING and ARCTURUS. Joining this veteran trio would be newcomers Extant (Joacim Solheim) and Kobbergaard (Helge K. Haugen), both of BY PALE LIGHT. Haugen, as well as keyboard player Andy Winter, also have an affiliation with WINDS.

The initial AGE OF SILENCE recordings would be despatched to The End Records as an exclusive, the label signing the band immediately for the album 'Acceleration'. Taking a somewhat corporate 'architectural' approach to their affairs AGE OF SILENCE would bill themselves as Lazare 'Public relations officer', Extant 'Commissioner of upper levels', Kobbergaard 'Master of linear functions', Eikind 'Commander of lower levels', Hellhammer 'Chief executive chairman' and Winter 'Director of implemented design'.

Eikind would join Tuomas Saukkonen's BEFORE THE DAWN as frontman in early 2005. That Summer AGE OF SILENCE set to work on a new album, preceding this with a three track EP 'Complications - Trilogy Of Intricacy'. The project was put on hold throughout 2006 as band members occupied themselves with a variety of priorities, Lazare recording with BORKNAGAR, Hellhammer in the studio with DIMMU BORGIR, MAYHEM and THORNS, Andy Winter cutting tracks with WINDS and Eikind touring with BEFORE THE DAWN.
