In late 2005 THOU SHALT SUFFER, EMPEROR, SOURCE OF TIDE, ZYKLON-B and PECCATUM vocalist / guitarist Ihsahn (a.k.a. Vegard Sverre Tveitan) revealed he was working on a debut solo album. 'The Adversary', released through Mnemosyne Records licensed through Candlelight, featured Asgeir Mickelson from BORKNAGAR on drums. 'The Adversary' landed at number 33 on the Norwegian national charts in April 2006.

Mnemosyne Productions and Candlelight Records issued the second solo album from IHSAHN, 'Angl', in May 2008. These sessions featured guest performances by drummer Asgeir Mickelson once again and bassist Lars Koppang Norberg, both of the band SPIRAL ARCHITECT, and Mikael Akerfeldt of OPETH. Recorded and mixed by Ihsahn at Symphonique Studios in Notodden, Norway, the studio owned by Ihsahn and partner Heidi Tveitan, additional work was completed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios and Borge Finnstad at Toproom Studios.
