NEBELHEXË
Biography
NEBELHEXË ("Fog witch") is an extension of HAGALAZ' RUNEDANCE, the project of AGHAST's Nebel, real name Andrea Meyer-Haugen. Not so much a band as more of an artistic outlet for musical expressions regarding Andrea's "deep and dark thoughts and feelings and her strange life experiences, it's esoteric, and spiritual". The albums are intended to be viewed as a part of a theme which also includes written works and published books.
After recording with AGHAST on their 1995 album 'Herxerei Im Zweilicht Der Finsternis' HAGALAZ'S RUNEDANCE debuted musically with a 7" single 'When The Trees Were Silenced' issued by the British Elfenblut label. Nebelhexe also added guest narration on the track 'The Dawn Of A New Age' for SATYRICON's 1996 opus 'Nemesis Divina'. The full length 'The Wind's That Sang Of Midgard's Fate' followed in 1998.
The 'Volven' album, which is heavily centred upon shamanistic drum patterns, chants and the utilisation of such ancient instruments as the bag pipes, hurdy gurdy and precursor to the flute the strykelyre, would witness guest vocal contributions from Tom Kvålsvoll of PARADIGMA, NOCTURNAL BREED and DHG. Touring found HAGALAZ' RUNEDANCE guesting for German Folk Metal band SUBWAY TO SALLY in Europe during October of 2000. Touring musicians including PARADIGMA's Zilla on keyboards and backing vocals, BEYOND DAWN, INFERNÖ, LAMENTED SOULS and VIRUS drummer Einar Sjursjø, secondry drummer and guitarist Harald Ulverstrand and Anders Peev on the pre-mediavel instrument known as a nykkelharpa.
For the summer of 2001 Andrea toured Scandinavia as part of a Viking re-enactment show. There was also time to start up another musical endeavour billed as IRRLICHT. During 2002 HAGALAZ' RUNEDANCE was due to offer up a new album entitled 'Frigga's Web'.
By mid 2003 it was learned that Andrea had reverted to using her previous artist title of NEBELHEXË for a new musical eneavour. Underground rumours of an artistic collaboration with Martin Walkyier of SABBAT and SKYCLAD repute would also be confirmed. Holland's Karmageddon Media took on the new May 2004 album, 'Laguz - Within The Lake', enginered and mixed by Thorbjørn Akkerhaugen at Akkerhaugen Studios in Norway. Other reports suggested Haugen was undertaking a Norwegian translation of Anton Le Vey's 'Satanic Bible'.
The third album under the NEBELHEXË moniker, 'Dead Waters', was released on 5th May 2009 through Amber Autumn, a subdivision of Candlelight Records.
