Biography

SCARIOT was created in Kristiansand by erstwhile SATYRICON guitarist Daniel Olaison and Anders Kobro of IN THE WOODS and CARPATHIAN FOREST. Also featured was TRAIL OF TEARS "growling" vocalist Ronnie Thorsen and "clean" vocals courtesy of GUARDIANS OF TIME frontman Bernt Fjellstad with session members guitarist Hugo Isaksen and bassist Bonne Thorson. Initially the band was entitled PEGASUS but after discovery of the Australian act of the same name adopted ISCARIOT, this duly evolving into SCARIOT.

After the debut album 'Death Forlorn', issued in September 2000 through British label Demolition Records, SCARIOT trimmed down to a duo of Olaisen and Thorsen. The band by early 2001 had been brought back up to strength with Olaisen joined by ODYSSEY guitarist Frank Orland, vocalist Inge J. Tobiassen, INHERIT bassist Stefan Schulz and drummer Freddy Bolso.

Olaisen also operated, albeit under the guise of 'Død', with the retro Death Metal project BLOOD RED THRONE with former SATYRICON and EMPEROR member Tchort. He was also active with COBALT 60, appearing on the 'Meat Hook Ballet' album. Thorsen would guest on BLOOD RED THRONE's inaugural demo 'Deathmix 2000'.

The band would cut a new album 'Tongueless God' for 2001 release for Demolition Records. Still signed to Demolition the band split with the label before the album was released. Technically 'Tongueless God' was never released, although the band manufactured some copies on their own. SCARIOT, now with APOSTASY and OPUS FORGOTTEN man Tor A. Andersen on the drums, would dispense with the services of Tobiassen in November 2001, announcing the induction of a new singer, Oddleif Stensland of CLAIRVOYA and INGERMANLAND, in the Spring 2002.

Stensland and drummer Tor Atle Andersen, alongside the DIMENSION PSYCHOSPHERE and INGERMANLAND credited Erik Mortensen on bass, founded the Progressive Metal side project COMMUNIC in 2003. The trio debuted with the demo 'Conspiracy In Mind', soon signing to the Nuclear Blast label. Touring in Scandinavia saw the band forming up the billing for the October 2003 'Scream Magazine Metal Tour' comprising headliners EINHERJER alongside LUMSK and GRIFFIN. In November Spiritual Beast issued the album 'Strange To Numbers'.

Reports emerged in early 2005 that SCARIOT, now solely mentored by founder Daniel Olaisen, was employing the TESTAMENT, SADUS, DEATH, DRAGONLORD and SEBASTIAN BACH credited Steve DiGiorgio with Asgeir Mickelson of SPIRAL ARCHITECT and BORKNAGAR on drums for on new recordings. The band entered Top Room Studios in January 2006, working with producer Børge Finstad.

Bernt Fjellstad fired up another new project in 2006, Thrash Metal band RULES OF ENGAGEMENT. In August SCARIOT, having signed to Facefront Records, scrapped a previously announced album title of 'The Grand Design' in favour of 'Momentum Shift'.
