Kristiansand act incorporating the IN THE WOODS and GREEN CARNATION duo of vocalist Kjetil Nordhus and drummer Anders Kobro. The latter also has credits with SCARIOT and CARPATHIAN FOREST whilst Nordhus also has ties to TRAIL OF TEARS. Guitarist Gøran Bomann holds CARPATHIAN FOREST, PANTACULUM, NEON GOD and APOSTASY connections whilst second guitarist Kjell Jacobsen is a founding member of NEON GOD.

CHAIN COLLECTOR's demo 'Forthcoming Addiction', recorded by Endre Kirkesola at DUB Studios during February and March 2004, landed a two album deal with the Portugese label Sound Riot. The band set to work on an album with producer Endre Kirkesola in October. In September 2005 CHAIN COLLECTOR revealed they had licensed to Germany's Massacre Records for 'The Masquerade' album for distribution across Europe, Canada, South America and Australia.

In early 2007 Kjetil Nordhus ended his collaboration with both TRAIL OF TEARS and CHAIN COLLECTOR in order to prioritise GREEN CARNATION. The group signed with Sublife Productions in April.
