Biography

Kristiansand's APOSTASY came together during 1995, at first comprising a trio of vocalist Stefan Peersen, drummer Arne Ording and guitarist Svenn-Aksel Henriksen. Other early members included CIRCLES END keyboard player Ruben Gentèkos, guitarist Daniel Nymo and Bernt Olav Bryge of OPUS FORGOTTEN on bass guitar. Subsequently, Gøran Bomann of PANTACULUM and OPUS FORGOTTEN took over on bass whilst Cecilie Haugedal was brought in to augment the band with female vocals. In 1997 Ole J. Moe became the new bass man and Lisa Christine Hansen superseded Gentèkos for the keyboard role. Tragically, Peersen succumbed to a viral infection of the brain and passed away after a very short illness in June of 1997.

An EP, 'Mournful Heaven', was recorded for the US Pantheon label in 1998. However, finding this contract unsatisfying the band soon severed ties with the label, next donating a track to the compilation 'Sometimes Death Is Better Vol. 2' delivered through the Belgian Shiver concern. Compulsary military service and relocation of band members fractured the band further but APOSTASY duly regrouped with an all new compliment of players.

The 2000 line-up counted bassist Erlend Casperson with Vidvandre (Christer Pedersen) of OLD MAN'S CHILD, GRAND ALCHEMIST, ALSVARTR and VINTERSORG repute on keyboards and the SCARIOT and OPUS FORGOTTEN credited Tor Atle Gabrielsen on drums.

Both Svenn Aksel Henriksen and bassist Erlend Casperson would join DISMAL EUPHONY for their 'Python Zero' album in 2000. Casperson also teamed up with BLOOD RED THRONE.

In late 2004 Alf Magne Andersen and Anders Faret Haave forged Industrial Metal band GROUND ZERO SYSTEM. In early 2006 Erlend Caspersen joined the ranks of US Death Metal band VILE to conduct their 'Gutting Europe' tour during March and April. In October he teamed up with Santa Cruz, California Death Metal band DECREPIT BIRTH.
