THRONE OF KATARSIS, established in Tau, Kopervik during 2003, is a two man project of drummer Vardalv and Grimnisse, the latter handling lead vocals, guitar, bass and keyboards. Grimnesse is also known as Thor Erik Helgesen,operational with SKUGGEHEIM, as 'Skuggeheim Norge', THUNDRA, ZENO MORF, OBSCURATION, DWELLING SOULS and EVIG NATT.

The demo 'Unholy Holocaustwinds' was published in March 2004. A second demo, 'Blodslakt' ("Bloodslaughter"), was was assembled at at Worship studio in early June the same year, but not issued to the public. Warfront Productions re-issued ''Unholy Holocaustwinds' in August 2005 as a limited edition of 400 copies. These sessions were also put out on CD by Paradigms Recordings in March 2006 as a limited edition of 750 copies.

THRONE OF KATARSIS contracted a deal with Greece's Black Lotus Records in early 2006 to issue the debut album, recorded at Black Dimension Studio. However, Black Lotus folded and in November the group contracted with Candlelight Records. 'An Eternal Dark Horizon' saw release in March 2007.

The band united with THUNDRA to conduct a short European tour in June 2008. Session live players included guitarist Godhate and the EVIG NATT, DWELLING SOULS, EINHERJER and THUNDRA credited Stein Sund on bass. Sathanas In Gloriam Productions issued the concert DVD 'Dead At Baroeg' in October. Only 500 copies were produced.

THRONE OF KATARSIS released the album 'Det Isklade Mørket' in early 2009 via Candlelight Records, recorded and mastered at Black Dimensions Studio during 2008.
