Jessheim, Akershus based CARPTICON was founded by guitarists Ishtarh and Brigge in December 2001. First the band took the name SVITJOD, after a short time they switched to INFERNAL FIEND and finally to CARPTICON. The group released the demo 'The Art Of Darkness' in 2002 including sessioning bassist Anders S. Bjørke and drummer Christer Jørgensen of DREAD. The pre-production of the 'Occularis Infernum' demo was done during 2003. That same year the band introduced MANDYLION credited vocalist Hellspawn and subsequently Morgoth enrolled on drums. The 2004 unit comprised new members singer Volund and bassist Valdr (a.k.a. Kjetil Dahlen), the latter known as drummer for ALSVARTR. The demo 'Occularis Infernum' arrived finally in February 2005.

CARPTICON line-up changes saw Decepticon (a.k.a. Svein-Ivar Sarassen), from VIDSYN, BEYOND INSANITY, QUADRIVIUM, SUBVERSOR and PESTIFEROUS, replacing Valdr. Black Seed Productions released the album 'Master Morality' in June 2006. The track 'Darkened' featured a guest appearance from bassist Tyr (a.k.a. Erik Tiwaz / Jan-Erik Torgersen) of EMPEROR, BORKNAGAR, MORPHEUS WEB and SATYRICON repute.
