Biography

Aggressive, extreme edged Progressive Metal. MUNDANUS IMPERIUM, hailing from Hamar, are fronted by VAGABOND and THE SNAKES man JORN LANDE. MUNDANUS IMPERIUM began life as the band NATTEFALL, originally a two-piece act of Draug (a.k.a. Bent E. Holm) and Grond (Lars Wiik), the band recorded a demo, 'Ode To The Nightsky', in March 1996. Later in the year the band opted for a name change to MUNDANUS IMPERIUM. The first order of business was to repackage the three-song 16 minute demo as the bands debut EP on the Velvet Music International label.

The line-up at the time was Lars Wiik who handled vocals, guitar, bass and drums, and his collaborator Bent E. Holm who handled 'Synthetic Performances', presumably keyboards. The early material was very much in the Black Metal vein with hints of progressive elements. The latter influences would to come to the fore as soon afterward the band expanded into a fullly fledged act. Good fortune followed in the form of a record deal with Nuclear Blast and secondly the acquisition of a high profile vocalist in JORN LANDE.

The 1999 album features a version of RAINBOW's classic track 'Stargazer'. Lande also worked on a side project A.R.K. in 1999 with ex-CONCEPTION men Tore Ostby and Ingar Amlien together with TNT and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN drummer John Macaluso.

During 2000 Lande issued his debut solo album and also performed guest lead vocals for MILLENIUM. He joined YNGWIE MALMSTEEN's band in November that year. Proving ever the journeyman Lande would be ensconced in the MASTERPLAN project of ex-HELLOWEEN members guitarist ROLAND GRAPOW and drummer Uli Kusch by late 2001, having earlier acted as session man for Danish band BEYOND TWILIGHT's 2001 opus 'The Devil's Hall Of Fame'.
