Biography
Thrash / Black Metal band DEAD TO THIS WORLD, initiated in Bergen, Norway during 2002, notably featured the ENCHANTED, IMMORTAL, NECROPHAGIA, AMOK, WURDULAK and THE CLAN DESTINED bassist Iscariah (a.k.a. Stian Smørholm). Upon Iscariah's departure from Martin Walkyier's THE CLAN DESTINED venture in early 2005 he re-established DEAD TO THIS WORLD. On guitar would be Divra Xul (Tony Wildwood), ex-of THE ENCHANTED and TORTOISE WALTZ. Drums were handled by DEATHCON, AMOK, HELHEIM, CULT OF CATHARSIS, BLACK HOLE GENERATOR and TAAKE man Mord (a.k.a. Tormod Haraldson). Despite Iscariah's Norwegian heritage the project was based in the North of England during 2005. Demos were recorded on the April 23rd 2005 in Voltage Studios Bradford.
In May 2006 DEAD TO THIS WORLD announced a split 7" EP in collaboration with Norway's AUDIOPAIN through Hearse Records. The band entered Conclave Studios in Bergen on June 5th 2007 to lay down tracks for debut album 'The Anti Human Parade' with producer Bjørnar E. Nilsen. However, the line-up had shifted shape by this juncture, with both Mord and Goatpromoter Lava having exited. The JOTUNSPOR, GORGOROTH, SIGFADER, DET HEDENSKE FOLK, WARDRUNA, SAHG and BAK DE SYV FJELL credited Kvitrafn (Einar Selvik) took over on drums.
The first album eventually arrived in November under the revised banner of 'First Strike For Spiritual Renewance' on Dark Essence Records. An Australian and New Zealand release was licensed to Modern Invasion Music in June 2008.
At the same juncture, and as work commenced on a second album, DEAD TO THIS WORLD announced that their "permanent line-up" would consist of Iscariah, "Supreme Necromancer of the Apocalypse", Kvitrafn, "Drums of War", Divra Xul, "6-Stringed Genocide of Infernal Slaughter" and Thurzur (Jan Atle Lægreid), "Black God of Infamous Circle". The latter's credentials included SIGFADER, INFERNAL MANES, DEATHCULT and GAAHLSKAGG.
Drummer Kvitrafn left the group in 2008 due to "other commitments". DEAD TO THIS WORLD subsequently recruited Italian drummer m:A Fog (Massimo Altomare), another musician with a swathe of extreme Metal allegiances including BLACK FLAME, SLAVIA, MORTUARY DRAPE, DAEMUSINEM, GLORIOR BELLI, LYMPH OF WISDOM, DARK REALITY and DYING AWKWARD ANGEL.
